Questions
owners ask
before they
engage.
Straight answers to what property owners, builders, and developers ask most about septic design, permitting, installation, and service across Texas.
How much does a new aerobic septic system cost in Texas?
Typical costs range from $8,000–$15,000 depending on site conditions, soil type, system size, distance to utilities, and whether electrical service or pumps are required.
How long does a new aerobic septic installation take?
Most new aerobic septic projects run 6–12 weeks from initial evaluation through permitting, installation, and final county inspection. County Authorized Agent review time, weather, site access, and system complexity can affect the schedule.
Do you offer maintenance contracts on aerobic systems?
Yes. Aerobic systems require an active maintenance contract with a licensed provider. Maintenance typically includes inspections, annual reporting to the county Authorized Agent, sample collection where required, and service support for alarms or system issues.
My existing septic is failing. Can you repair it instead of replacing the whole system?
ENGCO starts with diagnostic review. Pump, control panel, electrical, line, or distribution issues may be repairable. Drain field saturation, tank failure, end-of-life systems, or noncompliant legacy systems may require partial or full replacement.
I’m buying a rural property and need a septic inspection within my option period. Can you turn it around quickly?
This is often possible for typical Texas option periods, but timing must be confirmed during scheduling. Weather, property access, tank pumping coordination, and permit-record availability can affect turnaround.
Do you work in my county?
ENGCO works across the Greater Houston region and many surrounding Texas counties. If you are not sure whether we cover your area, contact the team — we may already have project history or county Authorized Agent relationships there.
What’s the difference between aerobic and conventional septic? Which do I need?
Conventional systems use gravity and require suitable soils and larger lots. Aerobic systems use forced air treatment, can work on smaller or more constrained lots, and require an active maintenance contract. The correct system depends on soil conditions, acreage, county rules, and intended use.
